A rough start into this adventure
Logbook Day 01 – Lignano to Novigrad

After some days or raining and thunderstorms, there is a 24h window of less cloudy. The chance to at least get started, sailing over to Croatia. Unfortunately there are headwinds forcasted the next days, and still some new low pressure forecasts are on the horizon. Anyway, I organized the crane for 08:30 in the morning to get the “Jolie Fleur” from the dry dock into the water. Wake up alarm get’s me out of bed at 07:00. Time to take a shower, prepare all and make sure all needed is on board. The crane arrived punctual and the boat was taken to water in no time. Some one hour motoring through the laguna channels until reaching the open sea, the Adriatic all in front to the horizon. Nice. The thunderstorms of the last days left some steep waves. I still need to calibrate the new instruments on the sea, taking me some 2 hours circling around and adjusting the sensors. The crossing was somewhat rough with the wave, increasing head winds to around 20 kn. Still nice sailing so.

Arrived after some 11 hours at Novigrad, a small town with a nice harbour. Another low pressure front is rolling in from the see. Decided to stay overnight at a buoy (~ 20 Euro). Good decision, as just some 30 minutes later hefty gusts pushed in.

11h sailing, 38 nm
Wind 15-20 kn, SW
