Speedy to Kakan island
Logbook Day 09 – Sukosan to Kakan

15-20kn winds against are forecasted. This also for the next days. As Holger needs to be in Trogir by Sunday, we decide to kick it off quite early to get as far south as possible.

Taking the shortcut under the bridge between Ugljan and Pasman. It has a 16.5 m clearance, so all OK for the JolieFleur with her 14m Mast. The 5-10 kn southerly winds take us to the Kornati archipelago. There, in lee, we zick zack further down south. Nice, easy sailing with some action.

The last 10-15 nm are across a portion that is widely exposed to the open Adriatic. Waves get steeper, wind does increase. Just not too much to keep all the sails up, powering us through the incoming waves. A bumpy ride.

Kakan island provides good protection. As we arrive early, we occupy a buoy close to shore in some 6m detph. White sand, clear water makes it a Caribbean feeling. Time to go swimming.

Putting up the BBQ to grill some self made bread and steaks. With a beer and a friend, that makes a wonderful evening!

9h sailing, 40 nm
