Tall Ships
Logbook: 2024.07.01 Scedro to Brac / Boboviska

Not much wind predicted for today, with some rain and lightning over night. I like to spend that night at a safe place, so I kick off early to make sure getting a mooring at Boboviska.

Take a morning swim. Have a coffee. A boat comes by to sell some croissants. Perfect.

Since there is no wind at all, have to motor all the way to Hvar. A very busy tourist town. Speedy motor boats and tall sailing cruise ships. With that traffic, you are always at allert.

After Hvar the wind picked up, providing a nice cruise over to Brac. The narrow channel between the Brac and Solta islands is very busy with small boats, but also huge cruise ships and ferries are passing. Need to keep a good look out for those large ships, as they are moving fast.

Passing the channel, the wind shifted erratically. I made an attempt to go to Trogir. Finally went to Boboviska as planned. Got a nice buoy mooring and enjoyed an relaxed afternoon.

Mooring fills up quickly. Later a large catamaran, the “Diesel Punk” arrived. They were supposed to dock just beside my place. With the strong side wind, their approach failed. Further on, it seemed one of their engines failed as well (Motor was running, either the gear didn’t get connected or the propeller was lost). The crew seemed to have difficulties to deal with the situation, dropped an anchor and waited for some support by the harbor crew. Finally they guided the boat to a far away place. In the evening a support vessel arrived that seemed to try to fix the engine.

There is always good entertainment at the mooring. With a cold beer to watch … and hoping you are not yourself the actor the next day 🙂
