Excursion
Logbook: 2024.06.24 Garitsa to Gouvia Marina

Just a 2 hour tour to the Gouvia Marina. RoRefill water, tidy up the boat and get ready for the long way to Dubrovnik. On the way rounding the old town of Corfu. At the new harbor huge cruise ships are docked. Each likely some 3000 to 5000 or so passengers.

Renting a scooter and discovering the island is an excellent idea. As there is a scooter rental right at the marina, that is easily put into action. 40 Euros for a day with a 125cc at mymoto is reasonable. Quickly filled in the papers, get some suncream, swim gear and mobile … and here we go.

Crossing over to the west coast. Paleokastritsa village is very busy with tourists and lots of traffic. That seems to be a major tourist hub. The coastline is impressive, also from the land side viewpoint. Steep cliffs, narrow bays, sandy beaches.
Without a real plan, I just get let myself drift along the curvy coast line. Beaches and hills. Stretches of nothing and busy tourist spots.
From the Antiniati laguna a turn into the mountains. Higher and higher it goes. Leaving the hot coast behind. Fresh air cools me down. Wonderful. Fantastic views, historic villages, ….
Over the ridge and circling down the winding road towards the beaches. A stop for a snach at a exposed restaurant (ΕΣΤΙΑΤΟΡΙΟ ΑΓΝΑΝΤΙΟ), providing a nice view to the far away marina and Corfu city.

In the evening there was a celebration (not sure what about). Singing, BBQ and many people. Some good change to the usual.
